The main purpose of the contest is to give a chance especially to artists and bands, not contracted to record companies, to perform their songs.
The contest begins with national competitions and the ‘Best New Song in the World 2009’ will then be chosen from the national winners.
The amount of the money prize which the winner receives depends on the amount of votes cast.
Anyone with a new song can take part in the contest and that does not cost anything. This years (2009) "The best new song in the world" - contest is now closed, but voting goes on until the end of February 2010, when the winner of the contest is going to be revealed.
Here you are the head of a record company and of the jury making the decision as to who gets a chance to take part in the final contest and who eventually wins the whole competition.
